☕Morning fam, SMH so many of us don’t see the bigger picture or takeaway from Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. Mofos are too busy living vicariously through Will & Jada, romanticizing Will’s actions and trying to check white folks for having an opinion on Will’s meltdown, telling them to stay out of black people’s business, looking like fools considering this time black people’s business happened on their stage on their biggest night. Trust, they’re gonna have something to say. Don’t want to hear what white folks’ gotta say? Build your own.

☕Morning fam,
SMH so many of us don’t see the bigger picture or takeaway from Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Now getting back to Will, on the macro, he put our brokenness on display for the whole world to see. This ain’t about being embarrassed, this is about his actions showing our competitors/opposition we are impulsive, we have no discipline or control, how easily we can be manipulated, not just the uneducated, but black celebrity, black millionaires… black elites. At how easily the most wealthy and powerful blacks can be knocked off their square… with a joke.

That’s their takeaway fam, that we are attention seekers, reactionary and emotional. Not the type of insight you want to give your enemies… but it does explain how/why so many black celebs that engage in Dem Party politics are misinformed, on the wrong side of black issues and black people. Charlemagne and Killer Mike are among those publicly moonwalking away from Biden/Harris, “Orange man bad”, “Lessor of evil” and “Any blue will do”, that now see Biden as the greater evil. Too little, too late after being bamboozled into using their influence to the detriment of their own people. This is not how you win.

On the micro, Will Smith is a man in crisis. The veil was lifted showing everyone who Will Smith truly is, not the Fresh Prince or any of the other jokey typecast characters he spent decades portraying, but an egotistical, attention seeking, narcissist simp that sucker slapped Chris Rock in order to prove his manhood to his peers and the public in response to being publicly emasculated and disrespected by his wife. His response was easy. And stereotypical. We can talk all day about how wrong stereotyping is, but that doesn’t change the fact there are people that feed into them or that right or wrong others will be judged by his actions.

Will should keep his Oscar but be expelled by the Academy. At a minimum. He disrupted the Oscars, assaulted the host subjecting them to liability, swore on live television, twice subjecting them and the network to fines. And now that Will opened that Pandora’s box, there’s no putting that genie back in the bottle. The Oscars will have to take extra precautions moving forward. His actions may have ended the Oscars as we know it. For Everybody, the host, nominees, Hollywood, television and the viewing audience.

Thanks to Will, the first #OscarSoBlack will be remembered for his meltdown, not the achievements of black winners, nominees and producers.
