Please evaluate the competitors’ entries based on the following criteria. Judges will use a scale from 1 to 10 to score the entries, with points 1 through 4 reflecting a fundamental approach, 5 through 7 being average, and 8 through 10 representing the most refined performances. The evaluation will be based on the following three categories:
1. Technicality: Assess the level of execution from the combatant. Judges should consider the accuracy of the performance, the degree of difficulty in the routine, and the overall skill displayed within the 60 to 90-second performance.
2. Presentation: Examine the contestant’s grasp of executing “Turntablist” techniques. Judges should evaluate the balance in executing body tricks, scratching, and “beat juggling.” Higher scores should be given to contestants who accurately and smoothly perform all three techniques. The transition between different segments of the routine and the demonstration of personal style and personality should also be considered.
3. Originality: Look for independent and creative approaches to the techniques taught. Each contestant trains under me, so similarities are expected. However, judges should reward contestants who attempt to apply the taught techniques in unique and creative ways, even if it’s in small ways.
After evaluating the contestants, fill in the scores for each category and provide an overall score for each contestant. Don’t forget to include any comments you have regarding their performances.
DJ FRANK3000 Total Score = 48
Judge: Rob Swift
Technicality: 6
Presentation: 6
Originality: 6
Overall Score: 18
Comments: This was a well-orchestrated preliminary round entry. My only critique is that Frank needs to work on his accuracy a bit more. There were moments, specifically during this juggle, when he lost control of his patterns, although they were brief moments. If Frank had a cleaner set, he would have scored higher.
Judge: deejay AGUI
Technicality: 5.5
Presentation: 6
Originality: 5
Overall Score: 16.5
Comments: The routine was good, it had a beginning , middle and end.
Judge: Ginsu D
Technicality: 4
Presentation: 4.5
Originality: 5
Overall Score: 13.5
Comments: Nice scratch patterns but I’d like to see what you could come up with using a different scratch sound. Ice juggle was good, difficult with the Rane’s slippery platters, but I could hear what you were doing. You pulled it off.
