The role of DJs has evolved over time. In the past, DJs invested significant effort into curating their music collections, resulting in playlists that were unique and reflective of their individual backgrounds and experiences. However, in today’s digital age, some DJs are more focused on cultivating a particular image rather than genuinely sharing their music collections and knowledge. It seems that the combination of technology and social media has shifted the motivation behind becoming a DJ from a genuine love for music to a desire for attention and recognition.
I understand that this is a very opinionated stance, but considering how trendy DJing has become, I think it’s something for DJs and those who support DJ culture to think about.
